Here, before anywhere, art destroys wealth and meaning, yet its non-meaning presents the opportunity for co-option and quick deployment as a countermeasure. Experts can wield a tool as defined by the social or cultural context, expertise being a fluid definition based on the predominant and preferred application of the tool. But the amateur is unbound by that particular expertise and, with a “foolish” wielding, combats a productivist approach to civilization and the human species writ large. 

Crucially, it is a cultural erosion necessary for the survival of said species, subversive possibilities through degrowth. In the short term, we seek to model this behavior by inviting the non-performative elements of everyday life to acoustically bleed into our intentional sound-making as a minimalist punk band. Additionally, we embrace the inevitable erasure of our own historical record by purposely undesigned presentations and permeable conceptual frameworks. This de-taxonification and non-specialization enables us to experience the thing and not the story of the thing. It views pedantic curation as a limiting of experience, not an expansion of knowledge. It separates the feeling from thought and thought from perception to ascertain the sheen of oneness stretched out over the infinite nothingness.

More pragmatically, this calls for erased cassettes, the language of graffiti removal, water-soluble monuments, and the thin ephemerality of sliding folding chairs on concert hall stages.

The pervasiveness and mutability of power and oppressive systems are what enable them to persist. If theory is to be an agent of change, it too needs to maintain a degree of elasticity and anticipation to maneuver and effectively undermine the shifting structures of power. This anticipatory choreography is both backward and forward-looking. It uses history to examine trajectory plus measured speculation to anticipate the compounded implications of that trajectory, whether static or dynamic. This tensegritification prevents collapse.

Certainty is the genesis of violence. Certainty is contrarian, partisan, dogmatic, and entrenching. It is unable to respond to new information or conditions. It often manifests as confusion between means and ends. We see this reinforcement of certainty on social media feedback loops and cultural consumption as a means of identity construction. While specialization is not inherently an adoption of certainty, it severs individuals and schools of thought and practices from adjacent or conflicting possibilities, offering a breeding ground for certainty. Specialization draws boundaries and inevitably borders.
